We breed for healthy cats that exemplify the physical TICA Maine Coon breed standards and amazing temperament. We have our cats’ DNA tested by UC Davis and they are negative/negative for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), Pyruvate Kinase (PK) deficiency and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
In addition our breeding cat’s hearts are echoed to ensure healthy hearts. No one can absolutely rule out future heart disease, this in addition to HCM testing means we are doing all we can to breed healthy Maine Coons. All this testing is expensive but essential to responsible breeding. Please do not buy from a breeder who can not provide proof of testing.
We also consider proper nutrition of utmost importance. Some of our cats eat a raw only diet (preferred) while others came to us already eating high quality dry food, supplemented with a high quality can food and we have maintained the diet they prefer.
